Description:
Provides personal care and performs related housekeeping services in the home for re¬ferred clients of the agency when no available caregiver or significant other can as¬sume this responsibility. Duties are composed of activities that contribute to the health, safety and well-being of the patient at home, under a medically directed plan of care.
Requirements:
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE; CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:
Current certification by the New Jersey Board of Nursing (NJBON) as a Homemaker-Home Health Aide (H-HHA) or evidence of the Aide’s name on the NJBON H-HHA Eligibility list if the Aide has recently completed the H-HHA training course. Demonstrated ability to speak, understand, read and write English. Exhibits an honest and caring attitude. High School diploma preferred.
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to provide private transportation. Ability to interact effectively with all clients/families; must possess diplomacy and tact under difficult patient/family situations. Knowledge of medical terms. Must have excellent knowledge of all facets of personal care for sick, disabled and homebound patients.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS :
Works in patient's homes. Potential for bio-hazardous waste exposure. Exposure to all climates and potential for exposure to communicable diseases.
