Medical Technologist Laboratory Chemistry Per Diem

Description:
Under the supervision of the section supervisor, the medical technologist performs all laboratory procedures in a prompt, accurate and reliable manner according to established hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Will be trained to work in at least one other laboratory department. Supervisor of that department will determine competency level. Scheduling in secondary department will be determined by laboratory staffing needs at the discretion of laboratory leadership.
Is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors, etc.

Requirements:
Education/Training/Certification/Licensure:
BA/BS Degree. Graduate of an approved school of Medical Technology. ASCP or equivalent
certification preferred. One to three years prior experience required.
Special Equipment/Skills:
Multi-parameter and/or batch automated analyzers and instruments in all sections assigned. All basic laboratory equipment including computer terminals and printers. Mathematical, computer reasoning, and language skills at a college level (4 years).
Work Environment and Hazards:
Frequent contact with water (handwashing and cleaning), bio-hazardous body fluids and hazardous chemicals. Sufficient noise and interruptions to cause some distraction and stress. Hazardous working conditions in which individual is exposed to risk of injury through contact with moving instrumentation, chemicals and/or body fluids.
