Description:
The Nurse Aide II performs a variety of basic patient care activities and related procedures in caring for the needs of the patients. He/She assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment. Must have experience with obtaining vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations and blood pressure)
Takes and records temperature, pulse, respiration, B/P, height/weight and intake/output measurements accurately. Reports findings outside of normal range to RN.
Provides assistance with ADL’s to assigned patients.
Provides assistance to meet personal hygiene and grooming needs.
Provides assistance with the nutritional needs of the patients, including feeding, mealtime assistance/set-up, supplying fluids, refilling water pitchers and delivering supplemental/bedtime snacks.
Lifts, moves, turns and transports patients out of bed, chair, stretcher, wheelchair, portable mechanical lift, etc, maintaining proper body mechanics.
Performs laboratory procedures as noted: venipuncture, EKG, GTT, blood culture, urine collection procedures and other laboratory procedures as directed by the Registered Nurse.
Maintains a clean, neat, safe environment of the patient’s room during the hospital stay and after the discharge procedure; maintains organization and cleanliness in the unit.
Demonstrates the 4’C’s of Commitment, Compassion, Competence and Communication.
High School diploma or equivalent preferred
One (1) year of Nurse Aide/Assistant experience or satisfactory completion of an Aide training program. Preferred at least one (1) year experience as a phlebotomist or EKG Technician with health care background. Current enrollment in health care training program preferred.
BLS Certification required. Excellent verbal and written skills.
